What Affects the Cost of Tree Removal?

Removals vary widely, so we give a firm price after an on-site look. What moves the number the most:

  • Height and trunk diameter of the tree — a tall pine is a bigger job than a small ornamental
  • Proximity to your house, outbuildings, and power lines, and whether the tree must come down in rigged sections rather than felled
  • Access for our equipment, and slope or canyon-edge conditions common on foothill lots
  • Stump grinding and debris hauling if you want the site left clear and ready to replant

Rather than quote a number sight-unseen, we give you a free on-site estimate with an exact price before any work begins — no obligation. Call (530) 802-1271 to schedule.

Tree Removal Questions, Answered

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Sometimes — it depends on your city and the tree. Rocklin requires a permit for native oaks 6 inches or larger, the Town of Loomis and unincorporated Placer County protect native oaks, and Penryn sits in Placer County’s Woodland Conservation area. Dead or genuinely hazardous trees are usually exempt or expedited. We assess whether your tree is protected and handle the documentation.

Will you grind the stump and haul away the debris?

We can. Stump grinding is a separate step we’ll usually bundle with a removal so you’re left with usable ground instead of a stump. Debris and wood can be hauled away, or we can leave rounds or chips on site if you want them — just tell us during the estimate.

How do you remove a large tree near my house?

When a tree is too close to a structure to fell in one piece, we take it down in sections — a climber removes limbs and lowers the trunk in controlled pieces using rigging, rather than dropping it. This is how we remove trees leaning over roofs, decks, and canyon edges without damage to the property below.

Is storm-damage tree removal covered by insurance?

Often, especially when a tree has hit a structure. We provide the written assessment and photo documentation homeowners need for a claim, and we can work with your adjuster. Coverage varies by policy, so confirm with your insurer — but we make the documentation side straightforward.
